Regenerative medicine plays an important role for customized medical care that is increasingly popular. Regenerative medicine exploits the therapeutic value of the body's own stem cells and growth factors to repair cells, tissues, and organs.

Of increasing therapeutic interest, small quantities of a patients' own stem or progenitor cells are collected by biopsy and cultured in a special cell culturing dish. When cells grow to confluence, the living cell-sheet is collected by enzyme-free and transplanted back into the patient again.
